I have a multi-page burst report with several charts and crosstabs, also have a prompt to the burst query. Typically based on the number of burst groups within the prompt, each report view takes 10 to 40 mins to execute. When I burst a single report view / report from the advanced run options its working fine. When I include 10 report views in a job for the same burst report, they either get stuck in pending state or show as 'executing' forever. Rarely all the 10 views execute fine but most of the time they hang! ( sometimes 7 views execute fine and the rest hang and sometimes 2 views execute fine and the rest of the views hang)
We don't get any error, they just hang! We are using Cognos 8.3
Somtimes we even face this problem when scheduling simple reports or run the reports in the background.
We tried restarting the service but this doesn't resolve the issue.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Aman
hi Aman
Do you have any plans to move from 8.3 as this version is reknown for scheduling issues.
What I'd suggest, and this really depends on your type of installation is to
1. Make sure the Notification store is a separate schema to the Content store.
2. Install a dedicated Application Tier for batch reporting and set up the jobs to only schedule and run on this application tier.
3. Separate the number of report per job and run the jobs in parallel.
These are just suggestions, I'd personally recommend upgrading to 8.4.1 or even 10 in the very near future.
Cheers

Also, I'd look into the max. connections settings under "delivery service".
