Title: How to leverage the log level in Cognos8?
Post by: Silvern on 05 Jul 2006 02:30:10 AM
In CRN 1.1,we modify the log level settings in the log service in service tab.

But after migrate to Cognos 8
I can't find the setting page where it used to be.

So is there anyone knows how to modify the log level settings in Cognos8?

Thanks.

Hi,

In Cognos Connection, go to Tools/Server Administration, and go to the Configure tab.  Use the 'Set Properties' button alongside your dispatcher(s), and go to the Settings tab.  You can find (and change) all of the logging categories in there.

MF.

Hi MF

I don't see this Tools/Server Administration option in IBM Connection.. I am in the server administration group. I also don't see this mentioned in Cognos Server Administration documentation! I am on Cognos 8.4.

I have a vague feeling I asked this before somewhere and got the result.

Thx.

Hi,

Tools -> Server Administration was correct back in 2006 for Cognos 8.1, but all the Admin functions were regrouped into a single Admin Console in the 8.3 release, so the options are now different.

In 8.4, you need to go to

Launch -> IBM Cognos Administration
Click on the 'Configuration' tab at the top
Select 'Dispatchers and Services' on the left
You should see one or more dispatchers listed on the right.
Press the 'Set Properties' button alongside the relevant dispatcher
Click on the 'Settings' tab
In the Category dropdown list, select 'Logging'
This should then give you a list of all the current logging levels, usually spanning two pages.  You can change them all from here.

MF.
