Title: Too much white space above/below pie chart
Post by: Lynn on 18 Feb 2011 03:22:45 PM
I have a table containing some graph objects and I can't seem to get rid of all this excess white space above and below the pie charts. Attachment illustrates...

The pie properties for title, axis title, legend, etc. is set to hidden and I have size and overflow set (350 px by 350px).  They are much larger without the size and overflow set. There will only ever be 3 possible categories so I know this is sized the way I like it.

I've played around with almost all of the 18 gazillion properties and a fair percentage of the 6,452 umpty-ump-illion combinations of settings but can't seem to get rid of the dead space.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Lynn - Is the table cell inside a block? Maybe there is a size defined for the block? Sometimes the vertical alignment of the table cell also does the trick. Try using Top or Bottom setting for vertical alignment.

I replicated this and it is following the size I gave it without creating any white space on top or bottom. I did not use a Block, just a table inside which I have two lists and a Pie. Pl. see screen.

Hi Lynn,

A couple of quick thoughts for when you get back.  You didn't specify whether you had set the Size & Overflow properties for the pie chart, for the table cell, or for the entire table object.  If I were a betting man, I'd plump for you having set the size of the pie chart, but not of the cell it lives within.  If I'm right, then you should probably try that next.  Finally, if that still doesn't fix the issue, do the same for the table object.

Oh, and you've probably not found all the properties of the chart either, if you've only come up with 18 gazillion.  It's nothing to be ashamed of, though - I still haven't found them all either.  I'm still on the hunt for the elusive "pie in the sky" property... :)

MF.

Thanks guys. Now I REALLY can't wait to get back to work on Wednesday so I can follow up  :s

....and MFGF, you keep looking for the "pie in the sky" property while I search for the "a la mode" property. Techie, you can be on the lookout for the "fruit type" property that has choices for blueberry, apple, strawberry-rhubarb, etc.

Hmmm.  Yeah.  Right.  You shouldn't even be looking at this forum today.  Step away from the laptop and relax...

It's my lifetime quest.  If I ever discover it, my life will be complete and I will retire a happy muppet. :)

There is nothing called Happy Retirment. You will start rotting if you stop working .

Oh, trust me on this - the rot began years ago.  Working or not working, I'm still falling to pieces before my own eyes... :-)

Seems the size and overflow on the table cell instead of the pie chart itself did the trick. Thanks guys!
