Title: design Cognos 10 Architecture
Post by: kenrisen on 07 Feb 2011 03:10:20 AM
hi all Cognos Gurus..:)

I must do assessment to my client and provide a solution for Cognos Architecture.
does Cognos have a best practice for architecture?
If cognos doesn't have the best practice, does cognos have a guideline to design a cognos architecture depend on the client needs?

or can anyone tell me how to design the best cognos architecture?

please help me.. :(

Hi,

The architecture will depend on the clients needs and so architecture designs will always be quite varied.  The best place to start is to read carefully the Cognos Architecture and Deployment Guide.

This is broken down into two major sections Architecture and Deployment.  If you are not particularly familiar with the Cognos architecture then the architecture section is a good place to start.  Performance planning in the Deployment section gets down to the considerations for the design i.e. availability, capacity & scalability.

Hi,

If you are at a stage where Cognos is installed then you can either access it from the Cognos Connection portal by clicking on the down arrow next to '?' and choosing 'More Documentation'.  Alternatively if you have access to the Cognos Server then the documentation will be available on there.

It is also available on line at: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cbi/v10r1m0/index.jsp just click on the Install section.
