Title: 8.4 Disk Space Administration
Post by: gotjam on 03 Feb 2011 12:20:13 PM
We are having disk space problems on a 8.4 installation on HP-UX. I would like to know what directories to look at in order to free space. So far I've seen a considerable amount of files at /cognos_app/c8_64/temp/rsvp directory.

Cognos should delete it's temp files byitself. You can safely delete the entire content of the temp folder, and cognos will recreate whatever it needs.

Another thing you can look for, is dump files. These will be located in the bin of bin64 folder depending on whether you have the 32bit of 64bit version of cognos.

If you have dump files, you should probably contact IBM to find out why, but you can remove them safely.

In cognos configuration there is a setting to change the location of temp files.  It's advisable to put these temp files on a dedicated drive if you are able to.  This ensure that the OS drive doesn't get maxxed out as you are experiencing.

Hi,

Can I delete the dmbTempXXX.dmc and vmmX1.aaCv files under temp directory to create some disk space?
Does it effect anywhere when i delete these files?

Thanks,
Subbu.
