Title: Cognos 8 on VMware
Post by: Summer on 10 Jan 2011 11:01:34 PM
We have congos 8.4 installed on VM.

We recently moved the VM to other ESXI host and encountered DPR-ERR-2002 error. We rebooted the cognos server and it worked fine for few hours and then the DPR-ERR-2002 showed up again. :-\

Do the encrypted folders cause this error? Should I recreate the encrypted folders after moving VM to other host?

DPR-ERR-2002: Unable to execute the request because there were no connections to the process available within the configured time limit

Thank  you

I don't think it has anything to do with encryption.  The stated error seems to point towards a fully-utilised server which has no spare capacity to handle any more requests.  If you go into the Admin Console and look at the stats for current interactive and background requests, how many are being executed concurrently?  How many interactive report server processes are configured?  How many connections are defined?  The max number of concurrent requests is the number of report services x the number of connections.  If these are all utilised, any new requests will be queued for a time (which depends on your configured timeout) then the above message will get displayed if a request is not serviced within the timeout period.

Off topic but always check your license when installing Cognos in new server.
New licenses are server specific and you can only install them in the server specified.
There is a VM license as well for VM install.
