Post by: kokibal on 05 Jan 2011 10:58:23 AM

When trying to add a new Cognos user, we suddenly cannot start the access manager administration application. errror msg reads 'Access Manger is not properly installed and cannot continue. Contact you system administrator' Both framework manager and Cognos configuration application start up no problem. The server has not changed in anyway as far as i know

Cannot find anything so far in the forum.....any ideas everyone??????

Access Manager Administration is a Cognos 7 application, so is not part of the ReportNet architecture or install instance. It's possible someone has messed with the cer5 folder it installs into. If you still have your CS7 install media, just try reinstalling it.

Good luck!

Apologies....you are right!.....i meant to write Cognos 7 ...Many Thanks. I will try that....but will this overwrite all existing access controls previously defined? obviously we are in a situation where we cannot export any data out of the corrupt access manager admin.

All of the users and user classes defined in Access Manager Administration are actually stored in a Sun One directory server (with a modified LDAP schema to suit Access Manager).  As long as you do not uninstall Sun One all this info should remain intact.  ReportNet talks directly to the Directory Server (ie it does not need Access Manager Administration to be even installed) - the only use for Access Manager Administration is maintenance of users and user classes in the directory server namespace.

If you're worried, you can back up your directory server from the Sun One console before you attempt to make any changes to Access Manager Administration.

Cheers!
