Title: Dear GURU! Question about Analyst and data import from csv file.
Post by: noraneko on 16 Dec 2010 03:30:30 AM
Maybe anyone can help with small question.

Importing data from csv file using d-link and allocation table user somehow formatted data for 1 position.
Drilling down to original data appears an information message with  formatted data and row data.

The question is – where the user had formatted the data?

Hi Noraneko,

Forgive me, I'm not sure I understand the question.  When you say 'user somehow formatted data for 1 position' do you mean to say that there is a difference between what you see by Drilling down to the source and what's present in the cube in terms of decimal precision?  If so, then there's formatting at the d-list or d-cube level.  There are some options in the d-link for Rounding and Scaling as well.

In any case, a File Map is the method by which a .csv file can be used as a source in a d-link.  However, there are no 'Formatting' options other than what the data type is: Text, Number, or Date.  In the Drill Down dialog that pops up it will display how the various columns from the import file were mapped in the File Map under Formatted Data, you will see the actual Raw(not Row) data by selecting Raw.

Hope this helps.
