Hi,
What do you mean by Cognos 10 materials? The question is a little vague to give you an answer.
Kind Regards
Rob

Hi,
Should be available from the IBM support site
http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal
Regards,
MF.
Hi MF,
I tried that. Went there, selected "Downloads" from the Choose Your Page options. Then selected "View all download links" from the "Featured download links" box. Got a list of 74 results. The only version 10 product available was Business Viewpoint.
Is there another URL that I could try??
On a side note, wondering if The Powers That Be have renewed our support contract ::) ::)
It is that time of year after all.
Going for a walk thru the Ivory Towers now.....

I wonder if these are the SAME Powers That Be who pay my invoices late all the time?? Who are these people and why are they in power? :D
Hi Nuffsaid,
Try it this way instead. Go to http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal
Select "Downloads" from "Choose your Page" and then instead of using "Featured Download links" look at the right hand side of the page where you should see a new drop down box appear called "Downloads"
Within that you can choose "Software Trials and Downloads" and download the Cognos 8 Develop Edition or Cognos 10 (Cognos BI Developer Edition)
Rgds
Rob
To make life simpler and in case you don't want to enter the parallel universe of the IBM Support Portal where things seem to change on a minute by minute basis here is a direct link to the trial download page.

You should in theory see all products your Customer ID allows access to - if you're not seeing the C10 downloads, then I guess you need to contact your IBM/Cognos Account Manager and ask why not (politely, of course :))

Ah - the fabled Powers That Be! I heard from my local instance of Powers a few minutes ago. She said she will be late home from work, so experience tells me I'd better make sure her dinner is on the table when she gets in! ::)

A six-pack of beer and a bag of Cheetos do not qualify as dinner. Make a note of it.
Well, got this all sorted. Seems I had a bit of a problem with my Passport Advantage account. All better now. Downloaded 10 this morning. Now I just have to smooooz my Sys Admins to get it installed. Not likely you guys can assist with that. OH wait, Lynn, what was that about a six-pack? May not be a suitable dinner, but could turn out to be usefull in other areas !! ;D
Later....
Nuff.

Sound advice, gratefully received. Tonight's revised Menu du Jour was Nasty Pasty followed nicely by Atom Bomb Pudding. A culinary triumph, if I do say so myself! ;D

If bribery proves ineffective you can always resort to threats. If you have any dirt on the sys admin this might be a good time to use it :D
I think an allegation of being stupid might work because installing 10 is no different than 8.4 (atleast Windows version)
I have always believed "you attract more flies with sugar (or beer in this case) than with vinegar".
It's not a matter of intelligence, my Admins are quite capable. It's a matter of priorities.
It's never been more important to install an upgrade for evaluation rather than "ringing the cash register".
Plus the senior admin has got this thing about service packs.
Quote"Don't bother me until the first service pack is released."
If I get adventurous, maybe I'll try and install it on my laptop. Maybe I'll learn something.
At a minimum should be good for giggles.

I don't blame him about the belief he has about accepting it only after a service pack has been released. From my experience, most of the new version have issues which result in the admin having to face the music and spend considerable time only to realise that it was not his problem.
In that case the beer won't work either ;)
