Hi,
When the end user tries to click on the E-list items through Contributor, following error message is displayed.
"Update of application 'contributor 8.4' was cancelled. The application must be updated before it can be started.
An attempt was made to download a component which does not contain the required security signature. This operation cannot continue. Please contact your administrator for further assistance.
See log file for details: 'C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\CognosRCP\logs\provagent_8.4\provagent_8.4_date_time_stamp.log'."
Can anyone please help me resolving this issue.
Thanks
Pravin
Pravin,
GTP the application, after reconciliation is complete ask the user to access it again.
If the error pops up ask the same user to try from a different workstation, should he/she be successful then re-install the client on your user previous workstation
Try the above and let me know.
By the way are you able to access it successfully from the server? What does the error log file say?
Cheers
Sameer,
Thanks for your reply.
I am able to access it successfully from the server. But it does not work from my local machine. I even tried manually installing the client (CognosRCP.msi), but still the same error. Also tried accessing it through another local machine. That too did not work.
As per the log file, it was unable to verify http://ServerIP /Cognos8/rcp_updates/plugins/com.cognos.ace4j_8.4.2063.0.jar
Regards
Pravin
Did the CognosRCP.msi come from the environment where the software was installed on the servers? In other words, is it the right version and not corrupted?
You may need to try grabbing the CognosRCP.msi from the server environment and try installing that on your local machine.
Pravin and others,
This is a defect with the 8.4 base release of the EP software. Specifically, the digital signature that was shipped with the 8.4 release for both .msi files expired and was not updated. It expired ~March 28, 2009 and is manifested when a client system attempts to download both the cognosRCP.msi and contributor.msi via a web based pull (automatic download).
There are 2 workarounds without updating via a Fix Pack (it was fixed in FP1):
1. Install both the cognosRCP.msi and the Contributor.msi (in this order) on the local machine. These files can be found in the ..\c8\webcontent\rcp_installs directory
2. Set the end user's system clock back to before March 28, 2009.
Obviously, for stability and ease of use of the system, it's recommended to upgrade to FP1+ (Fp2 is also available)
Cheers,
hi,
I have similar Issue in Cognos 10 Planning. When User tries to access appliation(trying first time),and click on one of the e -link, it asks to install webclient. When saying Yes and trying to install web client it throws " cognosrcp.msi Server Error."
Any Idea what might be wrong here. User has been assigned rights into Cognos Planning Administrators Administration.
Thanks,
