Title: Cognos 10 !!
Post by: cognostechie on 08 Oct 2010 04:01:47 PM
About to be released in a few days..

What are your views? Is it about integrating Infosphere Warehouse, TM1 into Cognos Connection? or is about new functionalities? Is it very different than 8.4?

Anyone who knows is currently under strict NDA lockdown by IBM.  The only details being publicly divulged are the messages on the C10 landing page on IBM.com - basically no details are being let slip before the launch on 25th October...

Not long to wait now, though!!

I'm hoping that bullet graphs will be included.

What I've heard through the grapevine is that Cognos 10 will:
quantify scalable queries
initiate cross-platform paradigms
and extend normalized networks

My source is the Cognos 10 spoilers archive (http://www.unc.edu/~macmw/jargon.html).

I will say that I enjoyed the movie trailer for Cognos 10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBbVehzWLKA

Ah.  The rumour mill has started in earnest.  Allegedly there is also a new interface between the scheduler and most leading brands of kettle/coffee maker too, so it can automate a brew while you wait for your report to run...  ;D

Aha! So you're confirming that it doesn't come with a caffeine drip for us lazy hard working developers?

Doh!  You fooled me into letting that slip!  Darn it, Mr M - that's me fired! :)

If Cognos is going to integrate refreshments into the interface, there are better adult beverage choices besides coffee  ;)

Seriously??  You can't mean...  I can hardly bring myself to say it...  You can't mean...  Orange Juice???

That's shocking Lynn.  Totally shocking.  Leading us all astray with lewd suggestions like that.  IBM would NEVER do such a thing - they have their reputation to think of!

;D

Profound apologies for my stunning lapse of judgement. Funny, I find myself using that phrase often...

Just read this - anyone fancy sponsoring me with an SDK licence in return for an arduino coffeemaker controller responding to Event Studio triggers?  Just gimme a month or two... it'll probably be a simple plug on/plug off switch, unless we can get schematics of a coffee machine's control circuitry.  That said, I like the aspect-oriented nature of 'weaving' a switch in between your appliance and the power, it decouples everything so you can swap out coffee making implementations provided the interface to the power grid remains constant ;)

Or maybe that would be taking things too far :)

I think perhaps you've been drinking too much of that coffee! ;) :D
