Title: Error Number -237: Asynchronous Open
Post by: cstorm on 28 Feb 2006 11:23:57 AM
I am trying to trouble shoot some problems we are having with Impromptu 7.0.  We have been getting several errors with our users.  The most recent is the "Asynchronous Open".  I believe it is related to memory usage, but when I check the users PC there seems to be no contention.  I queried both the Cognos knowledge base and forums and the web for solutions.  The most common one I find is to increase the memory size of the sort buffer in the configuration manager (Cer2.ini)  I have made these changes, but it still does not seem to resolve the problem.  I ahve given the SQL to our DBA and he has run it through SQL Talk against the oracle database.  It runs fine.  I can even run the same report on my PC and it has no problems, but this user cannot get this report to run.  I even reduced my RAM to match the users and I still was able to run the report successfully.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I checked the bin folder and there were no .tmp files.  I also read a post on another website that the temp files do not always have a .tmp extension.  So I checked for those that had a blank extension, nothing.  It appears that all of the tmp files are going directly into the C:\WINTNT\ directory.  I watched as we tried to run this report and saw the .tmp files appear.  Then when we closed down impromptu the .tmp files disappeared.  There was one.tmp file that then showed up, but it was like SC4p1.tmp.
