Title: Import Word document
Post by: nfldbunker on 03 Sep 2010 09:09:12 AM
hi

I have a portal created to view some standard reports for the end users. As part of the documentation i want to import a word document explaining some of the calculations etc. is there a way to import this file or would i store it externally and create a url connection to these files.

any suggestions?

Just store it in a location visible to your web server, and add a URL to point to it.

Hi

So there is no way to import this into cognos public/my folders to have this available either from the portal or to be opened from accessing the folder(public/myfolder)

i guess i can store on our intranet page and point the url to there to be opened.

please advise

thanks

Yes, you can have it available to open from public folders or my folders.  Follow MFGF's advice, store the file somewhere visible to the webserver, and create a new URL item in cognos connection that points to the file.

Cognos doesn't need to "store" it for it to be viewable inside cognos.

Have you tried GO Office? With that you can publish Word documents to Cognos 8
