Title: How to build a cube ?
Post by: gouravatalkar on 30 Jun 2010 10:48:51 PM
Hi people I'm new to Cognos 8 and I'm looking at migrating existing V7 cubes. I have built new cubes in Transformer V8 from packages build in FM. I have then used powerplay studio to create a default view. My question is now do I schedule the Cubes to refreash automatically each day. I have looked at the sheduler and that enables me to schedule the reports but does not effect the underlying cube. The cubes is only published as as datasource to the report. Is it possible to get the actual cube to show in Cognos connection so I can schedule it.

Hi,

I don't know about scheduler, but you can refresh the cube automatically by using the batch files.

In control panel you can find tasks and schedules. There you can add the new schedule and specify the batch file location and the time. Based on the time you have  given to the schedule it will run.

hi

i use a series of bat files - to move the cube from live to stagging - rebuilt and then come back online. bat files need to have extra mapping to each new cube built.
