Can Access Manager Be Configured Without Extending AD Schema?

Hello All,

We have been looking into migrating our security to Active Directory as we upgrade to Cognos8. However we need to still have Transformer 7.3 building the OLAP cubes overnight - and this requires Access Manager for building in security to the model.

I understand that you can use Active Directory as the Directory Server that Access Manager connects to, however Access manager seems to require extending the schema within AD.

Our company has somewhere in the region of 30,000 users connected to a corporate Active Directory server which we have no rights to modify (other than adding users to groups etc) so extending the schema is not really an option we would want to persue.

A post to a similar question of mine mentioned that Access Manager 7.3 MR3 might not extend the schema (This was Draoued at http://www.cognoise.com/community/index.php?topic=1221.msg5312#msg5312) but when I've tried to test this you still get Access Manager trying to extend the schema.

Has anyone had experience of setting up security using a large corporate Active Directory or know how to configure things without making changes to it?

Thanks in advnace!

Chris

I don't think Series 7 Access Manager will work with a native LDAP or AD schema.  As far as I'm aware, it needs to extend the schema in order to be able to use it.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, sorry!

MF.

It's exactly what I wanted to hear... a definitive answer is always better than a 'maybe'.

Thanks for your reply MFGF
