Cube incremental updation

Hi all,

I have a cube that has been partitioned. How we get that the cube has been auto-partitioned already.

Now I want to apply the incremental updation for that same cube.

But I heard that we can not apply the incremenatal updation to the partitioned cubes. So please tell me how to delete the partitions to that cube and then how to apply the incremental updation for that cube.

And also please tell me how to do the incremental updation. As I know in cube properties in processing tab we have a check box like incremental update. Is it enough to do the incremental updation of a cube. Are there any options we have to choose along with that option.

Thanks in advance
Sarayu

Here is the documentation on incremental updates:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/c8bi/v8r4m0/index.jsp

I use partitioning but not incremental updates, however the documentation does not say you cannot apply incremental updates to partitioned cubes. On the contrary, there is a lot of advice about doing so.

As I understand them, incremental updates will add ALL of the data currently in your data source to the current cube, instead of recreating the cube in its entirety. If data in your data source already exists in the target cube, this will result in duplicated data. It is up to you to make certain your data source contains only new data. You will also need to retain at least the previous generation of your cube in the event you have problems, since your data source will not have the historical data.
