Cognos Maps, grid references

Hi All,

I am investigating the feasibility of using Cognos maps, to plot specific grid references within C8 reports.

We would use ESRI map data, imported into C8 using Map Manager. I am aware of how you can define a 'dictionary' of mappings between transactional data and Cognos map points, however obviously it would not be feasible to manually plot every grid reference in this way!

Has anyone worked on a project doing something similar before?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Regards,
Chris

Hi,

The default Cognos maps are really not up to the job of handling ESRI data.  Rather than trying to develop your own solution for this, it may be worth looking at existing solutions.  IBM typically use an integration partner such as SpotOn Systems for ESRI map data.   Take a look on their website http://www.spotonsystems.com/products/spoton-vantage/ to see if their offering suits your requirement.

Good luck!

Hi Chris,
it is possible t convert ESRI data to Map Manager format and customize exactly by your requirements.  ;)
If you need to help to create special Data Containers like customized maps, charts and user defined 2D and 3D objects, contact Business Maps company - www.en.businessmaps.cz

This solution is very popular, because you need only your Cognos BI without any new applications.

Kind Regards,
