We use Access Manager 7.4 to control access to Cognos Planning Applicaiton. Every time we need to make a deployment we disable/enable all the user accounts manully, which can be very tiring and boring if you have a huge number of users.

I would like to know if there is any option or a way to disbale/ enable all the user accounts in one Go.

Let me know pls.

Hi Shon,

If ur having contributor only then u can set a particular application in disable/enable mode.

If u want to do the same for analyst or for entire setup (analyst+contributor+manager) then there is no direct option for it...
but i can think of one work around to make it possible..

>create one user class with any name (example user management)
>put all user class under it other then for system administrator... (so administrator can access the system)
>now when ever u want to enable or disable users just right click on this user class and uncheck all days of access.. and vice-verse...... ;D

I hope this can solve ur purpose...

Thanks Jitesh.

> I guess disabling the application will not work, as in that case even I will not be able to access the application for post deployment testing

In ur case 1st option will not work.. but second will do..
as u dont need to include all user class underthis dummy item just exclude the administer's user class...

just let me know if it works...

hey Jitesh, tried looking into this, but how do i add userclass to a userclass....don't see any such option there..am using Access Manager 7, do do you mean i add all users to this userclass?

Well, i did add a userclass into a user class, but then if i remove the access of parent...wo'nt the child user class's access rights take priority over parents?

Shon,

If you remove the rights of parents it gets automatically cascaded to the child. You can verify this by first right clicking on the parent user class properties and uncheck access for any particular days (i.e. Monday, Tuesday, etc...). Once done, you can now check the child user class properties and will notice it to have the same impact.

You can have the child overwrite the parent rights too, if required.

Hope this helps to clarify your query

Thanks for the information Sameer, will surely try this and let you know of the results.

Sameer, I see that you are Cognos Planning Certified. Am Planning for the same. Could you let me know how to go about it?

If you have any certification study material, could you please share it at Sujithonrao@gmail.com

Hi Shon,

As Sameer has already mentioned if uncheck the days options it will automatically cascade that too its child this way u can enable and disable users in bullk..
