Cube with only last period

Hi all,

We have build a Powerplay cube containing all the data of all period. Each period show information like a monthly picture of the data from our application at that time. Somtimes the end user need to get analyse data only from the last period. To accelerate the processing I think it could be great to create a second cube with only the data of this period (The last one or the current one). So it will create a smaller cube and it will be faster to process and interogate

I was wandering if there is an easy way to do this without adding stuff to identify this information as the last perdiod. I saw that you can use relative date's and let Transformer find out what is the current period. So i've done it in my cube. I was thinking that I would be able to insert a second Cube and use a dimensionnal view that will include only that relative category of my Period dimension. Unfortunatly I did'nt find out how to filter correcly to get only the data of the current period. I want to do this that way because I will not have to change the dimensionnal view each month to specify wich periode have to be include and wich have to be exclude.

Maybe it is not possible to do it like that ... but I would be so nice and easy  :P

Is there anyone who had to do this? ... Is there the way to do this?

Thanks in advance

Sorry for my bad english ... I usualy speak french :)

Hi,

It is a good idea to have a smaller cube for better performance.

I would definitely recomend making a copy of the existing cube and use that as a base for the small one. Modify the fact source query and in it filter out everything that is not current month. That way you will not only minimize the cube size, but also have a much shorter build time and more simple models.
