Cannot connect to Cognos Content Store - SQL Server 2000 SP4

I have MS Windows XP Sp3
SQL Server 2000 SP4

I have TM1 and EV installed on the computer.
I am trying to install Cognos 8.4 server on the same computer for a POC. And after installing i could not connect to the Content Store.

I created the content store (cm) in SQL Server, collation name as Latin1_General_CI_AS

I have set the virtual directory in IIS and named it as cognos8 pointing to C:\Program Files\cognos\c8\webcontent

Other virtulal directory named cgi-bin in cognos8 which points to C:\Program Files\cognos\c8\cgi-bin

One more virtual directory for help too.

After installin cognos 8.4 server, in the configuration i have deleted the default DB2 content store and created a new SQL Server Content store. For Data access in the properties of Cognos configuration i tried using localhost:1433 user name/password as sa/sa

also i tried using <computername>:1433

I could not connect to the content store.

I have the SQL Server installation as mixed mode. Also i have MDAC version 8.

I even did Netstat to check that the SQL Server is listening to port 1433.

I can even connect to the database using sa/sa.

Is there any problem installing Cognos 8.4 on the same computer where i already have TM1 and EV.

I am missing something here. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Sounds very odd - you appear to be configuring everything correctly from what you have described.  I have TM1 and EV running quite happily alongside C8 using a SQL Server content store.  If this is just for a POC, you could try using the Apache Derby content store that ships with Cognos 8, which will probably get you round the problem for now.

It's possible the install may not have completed successfully - the JSQLConnect driver for attaching to SQL Server as a Content Store should get automatically installed.  Check the files under c8\instlog to see if there were any errors when copying the files in from the install media.

What version of C8 are you installing, by the way?

I've had similar problems before and it does drive you nuts!!!!

I think I recall ensuring that Named Pipes was enabled as a client protocol within the SQL server config Manager.

I'm no SQL junkie so if I'm wrong apologies ::)
