Change Default Recipient Email Behaviour

Hi folks,

we encountered a little problem. I have to tell you the whole story, so you can understand what's going on.

Every time a user wants to get a report via email or he wants to edit a job witch emails the output to several recipients, Cognos suggests the Userid as Email-recipient-adress. For example

T1234 (T1234);

where "T1234" is a UserID from the AD (we have SSO in combination with our Active Directory).

The Mail is sent to adress "t1234@domain.name", where "domain.name" is our domain.

Normally, our mailadresses contain NO UserIDs, they are like "name.lastname@domain.name".

Now, when a Mail from Cognos is coming with "userid@domain.name", our Mailserver knows what to do (he knows the matching of UserID and name.lastname" and sends the mail to the correct recipient adress.

Good for now. But since several weeks, we merged with an other company. Users from this company are now partial in our AD and have access to Cognos but they are NOT KNOWN at our Mailserver (they are stucked to their own mailserver).

For this folks, the described way to send an email from Cognos with the AD-UserID as Email-Recipient doesn't work (OUR email server doesn't know them at all). This folks have to input their whole correct Email-adress like "name.lastname@othercompanydomain.name" into the cognos recipient fields for a working email delivery from within cognos.

My question is:

Is it possible to bring Cognos to suggest (in email recipient fields) not the UserID from the AD but the whole email-Adress, which is also available at the AD?

Any other suggestions are very welcome ;)

Which version of Cognos 8 are you using? you can set this in Cognos Configuration.
Steps-1) Open the cognos configuration.
2) Under security, go to the AD namespace you configured
3) Under account mapping, you need to add a custom propertie. like
Email  mail   etc...

IceTea

It's Cognos 8.4

Can you please specify the thing with the custom property in the config?

Are there any related Knowledge Base-Articles you know?

sKumar

Add a Cutom property--
enter the name as email   and under value type in mail. There is no knowledge base document for this. Also make sure with your AD admin that mail represents the value for email in the active directory.

IceTea

Thank you for the suggestions.

Sadly, it didn't work.

I checked our AD admin, "mail" is the correct value in our AD.

I did the configuration as described, restarted the Cognos service, but same behaviour as before.

In addition i post some screenshots - please shout loud if have a hint for me ;)
