Current Version of Report Studio:  Extremely old Cognos ReportNet 1.1  :(

Overview:  A lot of times its helpful to use footers just to display certain totals based on what the details say.  So in Access or Crystal Reports you can store certain values in the detail and then put them in the footer.  In the settings for the detail list you can choose to not make it visible so the group footer has only select data that you choose.  Could be text or calculation.

Question:  Is this concept possible in Report Studio?  Does this make sense?  Can you have incremental values in the detail and then in the footer show the total?

Thanks for your input.

Yes - you can show what you like in the footers.  You may have to unlock the structure (padlock button) in order to drop the relevant text or calculation etc into the footer.  If you wanted to show a total of detail values, for instance, drop in a calculation with the expression total([your item] for [your grouped item]) for a droup footing, or total([your item] for report) for an overall total.

Regards,

MF.

PS - remember to tre-lock the structure once you have finished!
