Hello guys,
I am a newbie to cognos and I want to know the difference between Report studio & Querry studio.
Which one is at professional level.....

Report Studio is the professional authoring tool.  Query Studio is designed for less technical business authors.

Report Studio has lots more functionality than Query Studio.

Off the top of my head:

1. The ability to create member-based reports from dimensional packages.
2. The ability to define explicit properties for objects.
3. The ability to unlock structures and drop in other items and text fields.
4. The ability to create multi-query reports.
5. The ability to create multi-page reports.
6. The ability to create complex expression-based calculations and filters.
7. Maps.
8. Lots more charts.
9. The ability to create templates.
10. The ability to view (and possibly edit) SQL or MDX queries.
11. The ability to define drill-through definitions.
I could go on and on...

Report Studio is the tool you shoudl use when developing Standard Reporting for regul;ar use by others.

Query Studio is designed for users to create their own reports that aren't necessarily designed for others to use.

Hi,

Basically query Studio is used to create simple and adhoc reports whereas Report Studio can be used to create more customized, complex and advanced reports.Report Studio offers greater flexibility in calculations ,result formatting and in many other areas.
