Distributed catalog woes in Impromptu 7.1

After several years as the sole Impromptu user on this site I have recently had to share my reports and data with another user. To do this I set up my catalog as a distributed catalog on a network drive. After some configuring on the new user's C: drive and on the network drive I got this working.
However after a while I noticed that neither of us had access to the joins and tables - options greyed out, even when connected as the catalog creator. Similarly the Folders option, although available, now shows the folders with a pad-lock icon. User classes and User profiles are similar - pad-locks everywhere and options to edit or remove profiles greyed out.
The only way I can reactivate the greyed out items is to create a new catalog, but this will leave me with the task of manually entering table joins set up over a long period.
Is there any tool available that would fix the pad-locked and greyed-out items, or allow me to extract the joins from the problem catalog and load them into a new one ?.
I'm using Impromptu 7.1 on XP-Pro SP2.

:)Answering my own post here - managed to fix the catalog, converting it back to personal from distributed by using a hex editor. Zapping out references to the master catalog on the network drive followed by some inspired trial and error to find the bytes that lock the user profiles and folders enabled me to regenerate a usable catalog.
