Hi all,
i'm really n00b at Cognos. i dont even have the basics yet. but i gotta learn the hard way of doing cognos.

anywayz i am doing a simple report just to familiarize myself with cognos. it really simple.

requirements:
1) prompt user a number AND a product ID.
2) construct a list table displaying the records matching that number and product ID.

how do i go about this?
i'm ok at programming ,php,asp,vb,

i know how to set the prompts when creating the model using the #prompt()# in my sql.
so my confusion?difficulty? here is ...how do i pass the user input into the sql and then have cognos generate that report using what the user input?

in programming SQL we'd go like, select * from table where number='userinput1' AND productID='userinput2'

does cognos actually do this by itself? do i have to set it up myself? all i have is a prompt page and the display page. and when i key in correct input i dont get any records displayed in my report page.
do i have to set some more query or filter?
need help...
anyone got some cognos tutorials plz inform me...thanks.

Merri

I suggest you first take a look at the Report Studio User Guide.
Alternatively, you can start by having a look at the Report Studio Tour, available from the Help menu in Report Studio.
