At our client we've installed a Cognos server. Nice everything up and running.
But:
-Logging is properly configured, but writing nothing (expect a few imports) to the logging database
-I tried to create IQD files to use them as a basis for a transformer Powercube. As confirmed by a colleague of mine I was doing all the steps in the right order, but no IQD files showed up
-Today I tried to publish a powercube. The connection is being created, the package is being created....but the actual file(s) to which the connection is pointing are not being created. I tried publishing the cube to different locations on several shared areas on the network. Only if I set the cube to be created on the local machine where I run Transformer the actual file is being created. Still the connection and the package don't work.

This looks like a general Cognos administration issue. How can I troubleshoot this? Or are there any things specifically that I should check for publishing the cube?

Just created a new folder on the client where Cognos Transformer is running. Shared that folder and gave "Everyone" full control. If I publish the cube there it is possible to use it from Cognos Analysis Studio.
However, if I have the powercube created on a share of the server it IS created on that server, but the connection created during publishing the cube is not able to access the path.
