Going from 8.1 to 8.3 I receive the error: 'QFS-ERR-0126 A text child node is not expected'.
The KB has an article on this  (PK95130), but it requires a login and - you guessed it - no attempt to registrate seems to work. Anyone got a clue on the exact cause of the error?

Hi,

We started getting the same error when testing 8.3 sp4. The error does not appear when using sp3. We are currently in communication with Cognos about this error.

We've spent some time investigating the issue and have so far only been able to identify that It appears to relate to aggregation settings of metrics within the report. It also only appears to cause an issue if the report is made up from several joined or unioned queries.

I'll let you know what response we get from Cognos

Sorry forgot to mention that apparently all KB documents that have a key icon alongside them are those that are currently open with Cognos Support. I understand that it is only them that can access them.

Why we therefore need to see them in the KB is another question!!! ???

Thank you VERY much for this piece of info. I only recently spread the word that we had a fully patched 8.3 version and now it seems we are one patch too far  (aka a bridge too far)

Just a quick update to say that this issue is still under investigation with Cognos.
As promised I'll update once we get a resolution.

Hi,

We've now received and tested a fix for this issue. We have been provided with a hot fix(are they called that anymore) that corrects the issue. Sorry no more details from Cognos as to what the actual problem is.
The fix to be honest appeared very quickly once they had seen the problem and I beleive they had seen the issue before and had this to hand simply waiting in the background.

I'm unsure if Cognos want these fixes flying around the web so if you want to try it within your dev environment send me a pm and I'll send you the file.
If you'd rather speak to Cognos support I can tell you that the name of the file is 'up_c8bisrvr_win32_8[1].3.85.1056_ml.tar'
