Hi All,

I have a Requirement of Generating a Cube of my current environment (DB=Oracle) I'm New to PowerPlay Transformer
So, before even I start let me explain ...on my work Station theres already Impromptu 7.1 Installed and configured and I'm about start generating the PP CUBE in Ver7.3 (reasons being at the later stages if e'thing goes well I might have to Publish the Cube into CognosReportNet)

Well, My Q is does the versions conflict (like I have Impromtu 7.1 and if I install PP Transformer Edition for Windows Series 7 Version 3 )
or do I need to upgrade my Impromptu to 7.3 before even installing Transformer.

I really appreciate ur help. If anybody's been through this kind of situation please advice.

Thanks in Advance
Sudha

No problem at all to have Impromptu 7.1 generating IQD for Transformer 7.3

My laptop has :

  • Impromptu 7.1
  • Impromptu 7.3
  • Transformer for Unix 7.1
  • Transformer for Unix 7.3

All running at the same time, without problems

Sudha

You know what !!! You made my life very easy - Thanks much for your advice.

So can I plan this way like I generate the IQD in 7.1 and make use in Transformer 7.3 with out problems right ????

One more last ...while configuring the Trans 7.3 will is recognise the settings automatically or some trick involved???

Please Let me know

7.3 transformer installation is straight forward ... I've installed on WIN without any trouble at all.

7.1 and 7.3 are different renditions (cer3 vs cer4).  They will therefore install to different directories within the parent Cognos directory and will have different registry hives for each rendition.

You will therefore have to configure Configuration Manager separately for each version.  One will not automatically read the other's configuration.  There isn't terribly much to configure in Configuration Manager for Transformer anyhows... as dwood09 says, straight forward.

Be wary of file suffix or type associations with multi-version installations.  The double-click will almost likely invoke the latest version installed to open your catalog/model/report/etc/etc/etc...
