hi

Anyone used cognos to model healthcare data and produce cubes and or reporting data. Any issues and or concerns, tips or suggestions.

greatly appreciated

I'm assuming by healthcare data, you mean data provided by some external vendor.
If the data consistency and and quality issues are taken care of by the ETL team, the issue that remains will be performance in both cube build time and access time.
you might have to consider splitting cubes or creating cube groups depending on the amount of data and performance.

I support Cognos for a group of outpatient clinics, so I model healthcare data for cubes and reports.

Just like any other industry, you need to understand your business process, and what they need from reporting.

Do you have any specific questions?

As far as using Cognos for healthcare data, if you've done your homework with your data, you shouldn't have any major issues.

hi

have you ever modeled 3m coding and abstracting data?

I haven't modeled data from that program specifically.  But if it's healthcare coding data then you have specific dimensions such as ICD9's, CPT, HCPCS, Providers, dates and anything else your business specifically requires.

Your users of the system should relate to you what they are looking for, and for healthcare it's most likely going to be what I listed above.
