Conditional formatting using multiple Queries

Hello All,
I am using Cognos 8.3 Report Studio and I have created a report with three queries.
I need to use three columns ( each column is being derived from its own query ) and create a calculation. When the calculation meets one specific condition, a text has to be displayed and when the calculation does not meet the condition, the text needs to be hidden.
I have created a Boolean variable, denoting the logic and using the columns from three different queries. When I use the calculation to conditionally hide a text, Cognos throws an error stating, "If the item exists in a query but is not referenced in the layout, add it to a property list ".
Now, my issue is, since the calculation involves more than one query, I cannot associate the conditional text to a single query and add it to the property list. Neither can I go to Page layer and assign an universal association of the conditional text to any specific query.
Cognos documentation points me to associate any specific data item to a query for conditional formatting. But, here I am having multiple queries. I tried create a layout calculation, but end results are just the same.
I am running out of ideas..  ???
Any suggestions please.!! :-[
Thanks,
Sagar

No other suggestion than the notion that you are trying the impossible (AFAIK). The Cognos tip is aimed at associating a dataitem with the list that is used in the conditional variable but not in the list itself . A different case anyway
