Hi,

Can anybody give any idea on the possible impacts/risks involved in changing the Namespace id/ Namespace name in cognos configuration?

Cognos version: 8.3

This is a bit urgent...help is highly appreciated

Thanks,
Paulami

I tried changing the namespace id in IBM Cognos Configuration.
The Cognos service wouldn't restart with the modified namespace id.
There are references to the namespace id in the content store tables.

Hi paulami

Changing the namespace ID would result in users loosing their MyFolder objects and in applied security settings being lost. there are some more
but I can't get recall them at the moment. Any way it isn't recommended

@femmett: If you decide to change you namespace ID you also need to change the Namespace name at the same time.

Thank You kolonell and femmett for your responses.

I tried to change the namespace id first and it didn't work and it seemed like as kolonell said the security settings got messed up. But then I changed the namespace name and it seems its working fine now. No impact has been heard so far.

Hi,

I have an issue with AD security setup in cognos.
In Dev it is AD DVP and in UAT it is AD UAT and in prod it is AD

This is causing an issue when  implementing security in lower environments in FM packages and when migrating them to production the security doesnt works because of the mismatch.

I am thinking of changing the AD DVP and AD UAT namespace to AD in cognos configurationm but not sure of the impact and consequences.

Can you please suggest me a win win resolution and any basic checks and backups that need to be taken care of.

Thanks in advance.
