There are 3 options that I can suggest but none can achieve EXACTLY what you want.

1. When the Cognos application is secured with a namespace, add yourself to the System Administrator and navigate to Cognos namespace and set Portal Preferences. When you click on the portal preferences you can seee 5 tabs. You can uncheck the 'Show Welcome Page at Logon'. What happens is any user that is being setup AFTER you setup the Portal preferences, will not see the welcome page at logon. But if anyone has been setup before setting the portal preferences, then you will have to manually set the user's preferences to uncheck the 'Show welcome page option'.

2. You can add a WelcomePageHide tag in the system.xml (look up KBs). This step involves manually hiding the welcome page in system.xml and then changing the default.html and index.html files located in the <installation Folder>/webapps. A bug in this is that, a user can still go to his Preferences and set Show Welcome Page at logon and SINCE WE HAVE HIDDEN THIS PAGE A BLANK PAGE SHOWS UP AND DOES NOT GO ANYWHERE.

3. You can write an SDK code and run it everyday before the begin of the day, which will Change the 'Show Welcome Page at logon' to False. A user can change this option if he wants, but you will force this option to False everytime you runt the SDK.

I settled with Option 1.

Leonard,

Were you able to accomplish this.If so please email me.I need to have a text box and a submit button in the bottom of the page on clicking it should traverse to the cognos connection page.
