You can hide the Public and My Folders very easily by selecting "Remove This Tab" from the Tab Menu.

You can also prevent all new users from seeing the folders by removing them from the Default User Profile.

Hi Rama,

You're not actually deleting the folders, you're simply hiding them. The contents will be completely unaffected.

In the next step, you'll need to modify a few things.

First, in the Cognos Roles in the security settings, make sure that none of the administrative roles include Everyone. Next, remove Everyone from Authors, Query Users, Analysis Users and Metric Authors. This should prevent users from seeing the studio links.

The tools and search options are more difficult. You will need to modify the system.xml. Read through http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3442&q1=hide+ui+elements&uid=swg21339044&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en

Thanks PaulM,
I was wondering about that as well.  Also, have you encountered a problem with Domain users signing on to the Cognos Portal before access to reports has been given?  This is my problem...

We have AD (Active Directory), in testing sign-on to the Portal, a user was able to see all of the folders/reports/dashboards without any restrictions.  The user was even able to create reports.  And you know that if they can create reports, they can also change them, which is a big NO, NO, right.

So how can I restrict access to these reports across the Domain before I've had a chance to set restrictions?  Does the Domain user group need access no, or yes if any

Thanks in advance for all of your assistance  :)
