Cognos Enterprise Planning Role - Ontario, Canada

Our client seeks Cognos Enterprise Developer. This is a fortune 100 company.

Position Summary 
Reporting to the Manager, Business Applications within the Corporate Planning and Reporting Systems team. This role will interface with business areas, managers and system users to define, design, train and implement business planning solutions. The Cognos Developer will work with project managers, financial analysts, reporting analysts, planning administrators and end users to develop and support existing and new EP applications.

Responsibilities

- Working with end users, stakeholders and project managers to gather and analyze the requirements for development opportunities
Capturing and translating high-level business requirements and user requirements into detailed documents to support technical design
- Developing the technical specifications for the internal technical teams
- Working with the internal technical teams in the creation of deliverables throughout the development life cycle and ensuring interim deliverables conform with requirements
- Develop EP applications using COGNOS 8.3 Enterprise Planning toolset
- Optimizing and enhancing existing applications with reference to best practices
- Providing second level support to the end users and interpretation of application content
- Developing strong relationships with end users and stakeholders to facilitate the collection and analysis of future requirements
- Providing knowledge transfer and assistance to support the Requirements gathering team to build appropriate strategies and models
- Identification, documentation and resolution of issues related to Enterprise Planning


  Skills Required 
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer science or related discipline
- Experience with using COGNOS Enterprise Planning is required
- Strong communication skills - ability to translate user requirements into technical deliverables
- Experience using development tools and development environment
- Experience understanding and translating data design models
- Ability to work under tight timelines and deliverables
- Knowledge of financial planning applications and financial reporting principals
- Knowledge of accounting would be beneficial
- Knowledge of database design principals, would be beneficial

ADDITIONAL ASSETS
- Motivated, self-starter with a "take-charge" attitude and ability to drive timely deliverables
- Experience with Oracle Databases
- Experience with Microsoft Visio
- Experience with COGNOS 8 BI suite
