Contact Cognos Training and see if the courses they offer provide take-home versions of the software.. Some training provides eval/training use software if you take the course.

Hi,

Cognos training do not provide attendees with takeaway product or course data for Cognos 8 currently.  I think the only way to get hold of the software is to talk to your Cognos account manager.

Regards,

MF.

"November 18, 2005- Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence and corporate performance management (CPM), today announced the immediate general availability of Cognos 8 Business Intelligence,"

I have not yet received a call from anyone at Cognos about C8. Is there a download? Do we need to call and get disks sent to us? Is this really just a limited release? Anyone know anything?

The Cognos recommendation for existing users of Cognos products is to upgrade AFTER Feb or March of 2006, due to the availability of upgrade utilities.

If you own Series 7/CRN now, you automatically do not get C8 licensing.

BTW, I got a partner email yesterday saying that partner downloads for C8 will be available by the end of November.

Cheers,

Mike

It sounded like you were expecting the new version to be available for download to you.. You'll need to call your rep and make sure you can do that under your licensing agreement...

Not all the products are there or have direct "bigger brothers" in C8 - no Viz, PowerPlay is now Analysis Studio and Query Studio, etc...

Mike

Just received this from Cognos support

"You will be able to download Cognos8 November 29th,2005 from our website or you may contact your sales representative at that time and place an order."

I guess an order would be for physical media

Hmm.. Interesting.  Let us know if you can d/l everything or just what you are licensed for... As in: if you had PowerPlay web before, do they allow you to download the entire C8 or just query studio, as Analysis Studio is a $$-upgrade.

I already have my copy. Neener neener neener! :-)  You will love it. Awesome compared to the S7 stuff.

We have CRN, PP client/web,  decisionstream, etc..etc..

Since we are licensed for everything I wont be able to tell :P

Hi,Mike!Could you provide me with a copy about cognos 8? i have owned CRN and PP7.3, I wanna to compare cognos 8 with cognos 7! this is my mail::[email removed for anti-spam purposes] *Admin note ,Thanks in advance!

Draoued

Linken , can you stop publishing your email address, please ??

This is not allowed in this forum , please , read the board rules.

MFGF

Hi Linken,

You will need to get your copy via an official source (ie Cognos).Ã,  If Mike was to copy his media and send it to you, chances are you would not be licensed to use the software and would be acting illegally if you chose to install and use it, which I'm sure would upset Cognos a little! :)

Your Cognos Account Manager should be able to tell you where you stand in terms of Cognos 8 licensing, and provide you with a method of obtaining your own copy.

Best regards,

MF.

Nicely put, MFGF and Draoued.

Linken please refrain from:
- posting your email address
- requesting for COGNOS software from anyone other than your local COGNOS representative (this forum is not really appropriate for that sort of request)

Thanks

Sorry, can't do that. I enjoy my relationship with Cognos and wouldn't want to violate the terms I agreed to.

You should be able to get a copy to evaluate from your rep, as others said.

Good luck,

Mike
