Hi,

I had been trying to install the above two in a small test environment (Windows XP), but keeping hitting this error message when I start Analyst:

"A Fatal Error has occured in the starup section of the application. The application will be terminated.

Please report the following information:
Function name: GetCAMMembership
Namespace: #._US

DOMAIN ERROR
GetCAMMembership[5] z,,CAM.GetCurrentUserMembership a b c d"

Anyone can help?

Just a hint, not a solution: Check out Access Manager settings, errors arise there.

Pee

No error at the Access Manager settings - logging into Cognos BI was fine without any problem.

When I first installed Planning 8.2 only, everything works properly. However, this error came about after I installed BI 8.2

Another possibility:

Try reinstalling the Planning 8.2.  Rule of thumb for installs: always install the oldest product first (e.g. install BI 8.2 before Planning).  Sometimes the foundation code is updated in the newer release but is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation.

Pee

Thanks for all the advices so far.

Tried from the start - install BI 8.2 first, then planning 8.2

Now, a new problem arise. I can't log into either Analyst or Contributor admin, having the message "You do not have sufficient rights to create the Planning Administration Domain tables. You must possess the Planning Rights Administrator capability."

I had checked on my Cognos Connection that my user is a member of both Planning Contributor Users and Planning Rights Administrators.

Where else could I have missed?

SomeClown

Quick list of things to check:
  - Database rights (service account has sufficient privileges)
  - IIS - Anonymous turned off on virtual directories (integrated on)
  - Services (Cognos 8 and Planning service) running under service account
  - Browse the logs to see if a more specific error is produced

Pee

Hi all,

Finally, I got it working!! I found out that if I am connected to any WLAN or LAN, I will get that error message. If I am running standalone, then the planning application will run successfully.

Anyone got some ideas about how I can resolve this little problem?

SomeClown

Are you logging in with the same account in both scenarios (one that works, one that doesn't)?  Are you running the services (Cognos 8 and Cognos 8 Planning) under a local id that has local administrative rights?

Pee

Yep. It's just a matter of me plugging out the LAN line, or disabling my WLAN connection. I am puzzled... ???

Could it be some TCP/IP settings?

SomeClown

I wouldn't think so.  More like security, like which zone the website is in depending on login type (maybe try adding the site, when plugged in, to either trusted or local intranet, can't remember which), or login credentials lost when plugged in.
