Reports run from trigger files fail intermitantly

I have an external process that sets off jobs that run via trigger.  Most of the jobs run fine, but I have a couple of groups of jobs that have reports that intermitantly fail with various errors:

DPR-ERR-2077 The request failed because the associated report service process is unavailable.

DPR-ERR-2056 The Report Server is not responding.

RSV-SRV-0040 An application error has occurred. Contact your Administrator. CCLOutOfMemoryError:0:Fatal:

RQP-DEF-0177 An error occurred while performing operation

The last one is associated with running out of room in the temp space directory.  It has 260G free, so I don't really believe it.

I do not get dump files.

If I tell the job to recover, the reports normally will complete.  Sometimes it takes several trys to get them to all complete.  It is not always the same reports that fail, but the larger reports tend to fail more often, and a small set fail the initial run every time.  The reports individually all run sucessfully varying from less than a minute to 4-5 minutes.  I do have one report that runs for a long period of time (30-45 minutes) but removing it from the group doesn't seem to help.  The error (among the 4 listed) seems to be random as well, but generally tend to follow in the flow in the order that I listed them in. 

8.3 environment, 4 processors, 8G of RAM reporting against an oracle 10.2 server.

I have been working with Cognos support on this issue but they haven't had any good suggestions.  I am hoping that someone here has some ideas.

I should note that this really puts a load on the server when these triggers go off.

are you running your jobs sequentially, or all at once?  I have had similar issues with triggered jobs.  (fine with triggered reports though)

I am running an 8.1 environment, and found that I cant run anymore then 10 reports at once in a job.  We have to break down jobs into sub-jobs of 10 at a time.  you may have to adjust this number based on the complexity of the reports, but its a good starting point.

I got exactly the same issue.

And Cognos support does not provide us with any good solutions.

They just keep asking for more and more complicated logs to be generated (not ideal to perform this in Production environment)

Any idea?
