Transformer error, freezes when category generation is started

1. A package with added measures in the fact are published to be consumed in transformer.
2. Model is set with Limited local processing and Local rollup.
3. The package is imported verified and now the cube model is created as required

4. Upon creation of cube categories the wizard takes hours and end up displaying an error

RQP-DEF-0177 An error occurred while performing operation 'sqlOpenResult' status='-28'.
UDA-SQL-0114 The cursor supplied to the operation "sqlOpenResult" is inactive.
UDA-SOR-0005 Unable to write the file.

These files qyj, lck and file titled "uda12381862380" about (1.8GB)   in C:\cognos\c8-transformer\temp
and RTM file is created in C:\cognos\c8-transformer\data\cqe\RTModels.

My measures are using simple case statements like COUNT( distinct CASE WHEN COL1='Y' and COL2='XYZ' THEN COL3 ELSE COUNT(0) END)

ANY CHECKLIST, ANY REASONS FOR THE ERROR.
