Configuring Cognos 8.4 on Windows Server 2003 & IIS6 ?

Can anyone provide me step-by-step instructions on how to configure Cognos 8.4 running on Windows Server 2003 & IIS 6.0?

As per the documentation, I tried:
* Allowing CGI & ISAPI gateways
* Setting up the virtual directories 'cognos8' and 'cgi-bin' with appropriate permissions

I got stuck on creating the application pools because the instructions didn't match IIS 6, I think the instructions were meant for a Windows 2008 server running IIS7, so this is where I fell apart.

Anyway, tried creating the application pool anyway, restarted IIS6 and tried logging on to http://localhost/cognos8 but no luck.

What am I doing wrong?

This is a fresh installation. SQL Server 2005 is also installed.

Thanks.

The cgi-bin virtual dorectory will be assigned to the defautl application pool when you create it.
It should work out of the box.
What happens when you try http://servername/cognos8
Do you get a webpage, or do things go wrong, after authenticating on the first cognos8 webpage?

You need to specify security on the virtual directory as well. You need to create the appropriate extensions to make sure that Windows 2003 does not automatically blocks cgi and isapi.
If you want to use isapi, then change index.htm and default.htm in the webcontent directory.
In any case , make sure that you use consistent names in C8 configuration,IIS and the URL that you use.
With one instance of Cognos on the server, the standard applicationpool is enough..
