Using a saved COGNOS Report as a Datasource

Is it possible to use a report that is saved to a file location (outside the content store) as an ODBC data source for an application like MS Access or Excel?  I want to use my reports to supply data to MS applications to leverage those apps functionality.  If I save my reports in a CSV or Excel format on a file share, can I then create an ODBC connection to that data and populate tables or spreadsheets?  Does the native report format allow this?  Does the file name stay the same, as I would want to keep it so as I would be re-running the reports daily to get the most recent data.

The native format is no viable source for MS Access. If you use plain lists and save them as Excel then you can use them for feeding MS Access.
However this is all academical. You are using the wrong tool for the job. Create views in the database or use an ETL tool to create reporting tables and base MS Access on this.

One last thought. You have Cognos8 within reach and still want to keep using Access?
Why?
