Controller: Issue saving rows to forms

Hi

We're using Cognos Controller 8.5.1 on Windows 2008 Server (64 bit, virtualised, 2 CPUs with hyper threading disabled and 4 gig RAM).

We are trying to create forms by adding accounts to rows.  It allows you to select as many rows as you like.  However, when you click save, one of two things happen:

1) It saves within an expected time e.g. 20 seconds for 200 accounts; or
2) It hangs, the server's dllhost.exe *32 occupies an entire core worth of CPU and grows steadily in memory usage.

There does not appear to be an obvious logic to what causes hanging and what doesn't.  For example we've tried the same accounts on their own and they have been fine, where as within multiple selections they have caused hanging.  Equally, we've had hanging with 10 accounts but not with 300 being added at one time. 

Other parts of the application seem to be showing similar symptoms of responding sporadically in this manner.

The server is dev server and otherwise not in use.

Has anyone seen this type of behaviour before or got any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

In general, these symptoms come from loops in your account structure.
