Hi,

I have recently migrated soem reports from cognos8.2 to cognos8.3, and I am facing some performance degradation while running the migrated reports. They are taking more time to execute compared to the  8.2 version.
Also, I have performance issues while opting "Run with Excel". It is taking too much time to get it exported to excel.

Do I need to perform any performance tuning activities in 8.3 to get back the same performance as in 8.2?

Same hardware between environments? Same settings for cognos?

mycognos

Ya the same settings....both are in the same machine.

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that the import messed somethign up in the report. Check to make sure the generated sql is still valid (i.e. correct joins, filters etc) and that its the same between 8.2/8.3. Also if you are running two versions simulatnsouly on the same box make sure the extra load is not messing you around.

Are you using the default Derby DB content store perhaps for 8.3?

mycognos

The data and everything is fine...only problem is with the performance. The older version is not running now. we have stopped the service of older version, the thing is we havent uninstall the older version.
We have created a new contentstore for cognos8.3.

Do these reports have drill downs in them?

If not, then go into the properties of the report and under the advance option, there is a check box next to interactive reports, uncheck that box.

Reports should run better.

Have you tried to recreate the reports in 8.3.  When we upgraded from 8.1 there were a few reports that appeared to migrate fine but when we ran them had errors and problems.  We recreated them from scratch and that solved the problem.

Victor_nissi

Have you tried running the report in Excel 2007?
It improves the performance and also reduces the size of the report by 1/4th...
