Hi,

I have installed Cognos 8.1 BI server and configured the IIS and i tried to access cognos connection by giving http://hostname/cognos8. It doesnt give the cognos page. The full URL i got after this is http://hostname/cognos8/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/main.xts&startwel=yes

Also i got a warning from IE saying that MS Internet explorer's enhanced security configuration is currently enabled on your server. This enhanced level of security reducesthe risk of attack from web-based content that is not secure, but ut ma also prevent web sites from displaying correctly and restrict access to network resourses

can somebody please help me to crack this and access cognos home page

just double click on the "internet" word in the bottom right of IE windows (there is a small icon planet)
then click on trusted site
then click sites
then type http://10.40.80.69/
then type add
then type ok
then type ok
then close IE
then start IE
enter url http://10.40.80.68/cognos8/

hope this help... but remember you should not test on the server but rather on a client machine

Thanks for yoru suggestions.

I have checked this, but couldnt be able to access Cognos home page. I tried to ping this server from my client machine and it is.

let me know why this cannot be checked from server machine!

Thanks,

it *can* be checked from the server... it is just that depending on your firewall configuration you may not experience the same result (in fact you should always test a daemon/service using the same connection that the one you want for ending user)

I am affraid that I can not help you more without an actual description of your error... maybe you can try to do some screenshot ? and explain how you did the test ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I got this solved out by making some changes on IIS settings like allowing WebDAV, All Unknown CGI extensions and All Unknown ISAPI extensions

Thanks,
UG
