Users are getting the above error, unable to find any related documentation on support site. Also no good help from opening a call with cognos support.

did anyone had to deal with this. is there a way we have enable detailed logging? Nothing useful is logged in planningerrorlog.

As a system administrator I am able to run GTP process.

Thank You

Can you please describe the error in more detail? Messages? Screenshots? Changed did before getting the error?

You can increase the error logging to verbose-level by changing or adding the analyst registry keys to (Version 8.3):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cognos\cer4\epTraceLogger\unknown.JCE73]
"LogLevel"=dword:00000000

Be aware that this logs nearly everything, so ensure to set back this key after testing. Maybe LogLevel 1 also gives enough information.

Sascha,

We have enabled epTraceLog (there is an exe in bin - 8.2) but that recorded the same error information.

Do you know what happens during the "PRE_PRODUCTION" process?

I can get the GTP working if I add the user to Planning Rights Administrator group. We do not want to do this because of the obvious confidential models.

Currently I am going through the security settings in CAC and see if I can find something. In general, the user who is having this GTP issue has full access to application. Am I missing anything?

I haven't worked with the epTraceLog yet.

The person woh is working on the Admin Console does indeed need to have suffcient rights to the console.
What are your security issues with the Planning Rights Administrator group? Do I interpret that correctly that there is one user you are talking about that needs to GTP applications in the Admin Console but should be limited to other functionality in the console and in connection?

nlnreddy

We have user groups setup for different groups and set required access to the applications in CAC.

Yes, your interpretation is correct I am trying to limit access to only the applications that the group is supposed to have.

any ideas - what happens in PRE-PRODUCTION process?

Thank you

During the Pro-Production phase:

  • A master model definition per language is produced.
  • New e.List items are added to datastore tables.
  • Import data blocks are associated with the production application.
  • Error trapping takes place, for example, if there are no e.List items, Go to Production does not take place.

If you want to limit a user to specific administrative options a user with the planning rights administrator role can import this limited user into the admin console and assign very deep and detailled rights to him. This goes down to nearly each single setting per application.
