Hi Phani,

Please check the content store configuration for correct parameters (DB server name, DB name,UserID and password). Also wait for some time (2-3 min) after the reportnet service starts and then open the cognos connection.

Also check the log file "crn.log" for the specific error messages.

Earlier I had experienced the same error. I think this is somethingÃ,  about the content store service does not start properly or not started at all. IfÃ,  you are running reportnet on windows o/s open the "Task manager" window and see whether "BIBusTkserver" process is running or not. In order to use the reportnet the above process and the "Cognosbootstrapper" process should be running.

Hope this helps

Note: When posting the error messages please give your environment (Operating System, Database type and CRN version etc.). This will help us in resolving the issues faster.

Thanks
thanks & regards

Hi Phani,

I had tried and failed installing CRN on XP. Then i had installed and working on Windows 2000 Professional. Have u referred to the documentation provided with CRN.

Have u checked the log files for any error messages?Have u checked the DB server name, db name, userid and password for the correct values?

thanks & regards

Hi,

Attaching the crnserver.log file might be helpfull...... If you really did everything required I bet the previous remark about SP3 on SQL Server will do the trick........

My O/S is windows 2000, sqlserver 2000, i had created three virtual directories in the internet Informations Systems.( crn, cgi-bin, help). and  coming to the configuration..
sqlserver database 'server name is "phani"....
In the cognos configuration is   the following steps done by me in reportnet
1) making larger confiugration (for Cognos reportnet  service)
2) creating  Namspace in Authentication as "localNT/NTLM",,
3) Content store"MSSQLSERVER DATABASE"...
databaseName-- 'CRN'
userid and pass -- sa/sa
.my doubt is whether the system host name and sqlserver name  should be same
2) i couldn't find bootstrap service in Taskbar..
3) whether we should create the same  userid/pass for windows/sqlserver and reportnet .. should be same..

First try to create CRN without the ntlm. Just use the default Cognos namespace and set allow anonymous to true.

For webserver settings see:
Cognos ReportNet(TM) Quick Start Installation and Configuration Guide

Settings should be:
Database server and portnumber: phani:1433 (default sql port change if you've changed it)
Database name: CRN
User: sa
Pass: sa

Make sure you first create the database and that you have SQL Server2000 SP3a !!

After configuring start reportnet.Ã,  Check if the database tables are created.
If this work start tuning.

Btw... Make sure SQL Server is RUNNING!!!

I had this problem a few weeks ago...You may want to check your JCE files to make sure they are current.  If you have a support login, you can download the correct JCE files to replace the out-of-date ones.

http://support.cognos.com/en/support     - Look for JCE near the top center of the screen.
