Choosing application server for C8

Hi

In a fresh installation (no existing server to re-use and so on): Why would I want to use any other application server than Tomcat?

I understand that if all existing servers are on WebLogic, using tomcat would cause more work to server administrators (yet another appserver to monitor and manage...).
Are there any real performance gains or other reasons?

No real difference. The java server handles all logic from the C8 servlets (the dispatcher and the content manager).
True report calculation is done by the bibus proces, which runs outside the java stack.
The only reason to choose a different java stack then the (free) embedded tomcat, is when your support department has standardised it's java solutions on a specific java server only, and any additional java server would result in non conformity and thus additional training.
