I have a very generic and probably easy issue to fix.

I am attempting to simply create a list (any list) with a header that looks like so...

One would think this would be a brainless task...

I have tried specifying in inches or cm's ... i have tried perctentages... u name it.

I use a list object .. then place a table object above it .. and try to manually specify the widths ... but to no avail... i cannot get them to EVER line up.

If your boss asked you to spit out a list report similar to the image i just posted... let me know how u would go about it.  There is no nesting headers in a list object ...

These need to be populated by the query attached to that list.

If this was confusing please feel free to ask questions.. and a pre-thank you for your help.

p.s. all in report studio 8.2

Could you be a little bit more specific?
How would the report look at the end, so I could imagine what you try to do.
Are Head1 and Head2 some kind of level-change/group-change? or is it just a header?

The problem with the method you are using is that the table and the list container are distinct objects.  What you need to do is to add rows to your list container above the header line and then merge cells as necessary.

Unfortunately, it's not a straight forward fix.  As best as I can tell I would do the following:

1)Select a List Column Body
2)From the menu go to Structure > Headers & Footers > Insert List Row Cells Above  (add 2 rows when it prompts you
3)Unlock the cells (using the blue lock button)
4)Drag your current Header Text Items to the 2nd newly created row.
5)Merge cells in the top newly created row
6)Drop text items into the now merged cells of the top new row as necessary
7)Select one of the original list container header cells, and using the 'Select Ancestor' button on the properties page, select List Column Title Style and set it's box type property to 'None.

Now this may create some problems for you down the road in that your List Column Title cells are hidden.  To be able to see them to manipulate them in the future, use the 'Visual Aids' button (beside the blue lock) and put a check beside 'Show Hidden Objects'.  When it renders the columns should look like you show in your request, but in RS, you should still be able to see the original header line.  This will be necessary if you start adding columns and need to bring their titles down in the new Header lines.

I know its a little arduous, but it should work for you.
No, a proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof, and when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven.
