Hello All,

Thank you..

I presume you are trying to configure your AD for Cognos Configuration.

1. add the new method of identification that utilize Active Directory
2. Put in all the necessary information required (Namespace ID, Host and Port, and Binding Credentials)
3. add the following values under "Advanced properties":

  • Name = singleSignonOption
  • Value = IdentityMapping

These values are case sensitive.

Next, all you need to do is test the connection.

If your AD is equiped with multiple domain controllers, it is advised to enter domain name:389
instead of the hostname of a DC. That way you have fail over on authentication souce for no extra charge.

If your Active Directory allows anonymous ldap queries, you can skip the Binding credentials part.
If you do add binding credentials, keep in mind that these credentials should belong to a service account
that does not have a password change policy, as C8 will stop functioning once the change is enforced.

The steps will change depending on which OS your cognos server is located. If your cognos environment is UNIX based then you cannot select Active Directory type of security in Cognos Configuration. You will have to create LDAP type of security. See documentation if you have Cognos on UNIX.
