Hello,

I don't know anything about Cognos administration, so, may be my question will "sound" strange to you:
-> may be some of my reports will be put on a server of some "others" clients, and I'd like to know what it is possible to do to avoid anybody to look at the report and their structure. The situation is not clear (and hard to explain) and I fear that some "ex-employees" (transferred into others services/responsibilities) could came and took every ideas for themselves.
Sorry, but I don't want that to append.

So, what is possible to do ?

Thanks,

almeids

I'm sure you could handle it by implementing the necessary security.  You can keep end users (consumers) out of your reports, so I suppose you could do the same for other developers.  Your employer or security administrator may have a problem with that approach, though.
Keep in mind that this is also a matter of perspective.  There can be a fine line between knowledge sharing and plagiarism.  Think about some of the postings here and in other forums.  There have been many times when I've felt that some unqualified bozo was asking us to do his or her job, but I generally give the benefit of the doubt and try to help.  If somebody posts a piece of javascript here, is it unethical to use it in your company?
I think your question is indicative of a social/workplace ethics problem better suited for a newspaper advice column than a Cognos technical forum.  It sounds like you and your colleagues don't play very well together.  Maybe you should raise the issue with your manager.

Hy,

Thanks for your answer.
I think that you have understood that it's a bad situation between different services in the same society, and I hope that everyone that read this message won't think that I'm a "bad guy in my head".
Usually, I never act like that, and in the few forums that I 'm using, as soon as I can help somebody I do it (or try to).
But, believe me, we ( I say "we" because I'm not alone in that case) have had a lot of problems (serious), so I have more that one reason to be "angry".
And after all, when you buy a software you don't have the source code with it, so why won't we "protect" our work ? ;-)

So ... I'll  have a few days of holidays, and ... surely I'll be in a better mood (hope it is the good way of saying it, sorry for my bad English knockledge)  ;D
