Is there any way to retrieve the deleted report from the cognos portal? if yes Can you please tell me how ?

biejorrun

Two options:

1. If you created an export with all reports (i.e. on a daily basis), you can import the folder where the report resides.
2. Restore a database-backup of your content store to a test server, copy the report xml, and import it into your production environment.

Good luck!

Hey Jorum,

Can you tell how can i create a export with all report on daily basis...

Thanks in advance

In Cognos Connection, go to Tools > Content Administration. Click the "New Export" button, give it a name and select what you want to backup. Then schedule the whole thing.

Jorum,
one more question. I did the export but it is only doing for Public folder not for my personal folder is there any way to do it....

ducthcogtechie

When moving personal folder stuff to a new server, you need some manual labour.
Create a folder structur in the public folders for the move, and ask the users to save their reports on there.
Then export it, and ask the users to store it a again in their personal folders and delete the temporary folder structure in the public folder section.

Hi Maple,

sorry for my late response. As dutchcogtechie says, you can't export the Private Folders. What you can do is to create an export job, and select the whole content store, instead of several folders.

Personally, my best practise is to inform users, from the very first moment they log in, that their "My Folders" are not backed up. Their reaction is in 99% that they create a folder in their Package, and store their reports over there.
